The Vertières-Z: Axum-Z is a hands-on FPGA development and semiconductor education kit designed to make advanced digital technology more accessible to students, schools, universities, robotics programs, and STEM organizations.
Rather than only learning chip technology through textbooks or simulations, students work directly with programmable FPGA hardware and supporting electronic components. The kit is being developed alongside an offline educational curriculum that guides students through progressively more advanced projects and introduces concepts used in digital electronics, computer engineering, and semiconductor technology.
Students will be able to explore:
FPGA programming and digital logic
Electronic circuits and hardware interfacing
Sensors and input/output systems
Audio input and output
Data storage and communication
Digital system and processor fundamentals
Hands-on hardware assembly and troubleshooting
The prototype shown above represents the current development platform being used to build and test the hardware, firmware, and educational curriculum. The final kit will transition from the breadboard prototype into a more integrated, classroom-ready design.
Built for education. Designed for accessibility. Created to develop the next generation of semiconductor and hardware engineers.
